THE CARNAL NATURE
Man is not only born in sin, separated from God, he has a nature that is alienated from God, that loves sin and hates righteousness. In Scripture this is known as the carnal man, the flesh or the old man. This carnal nature has the character traits of Satan and not God. This nature is not subject to the law of God and will never come under the control of God.
ROM 7:5 For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death............ 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.......... 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

ROM 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.......... 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

1COR 3:3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

MAT 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

JOHN 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

1COR 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

GAL 4:29 But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.

GAL 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
